BRFC Foodbank Appeal

BRFC Foodbank Appeal, December 2022
Throughout the month of December, the BRFC community have been donating to an Appeal for the Ballymoney Foodbank. On Friday 23rd December, Chris, Claire and Uel, loaded everything into a van and set off in the direction of Ballymoney Foodbank.
The BRFC Foodbank Appeal co-ordinator, Claire Diamond, explained, “When I first suggested the idea of a December Foodbank Appeal, I was hoping for each family within the BRFC community to donate one item. Times are extremely tough right now for an increasing number of families. I wanted us to help in some way and hoped that we, as a community, could make a difference to even just a few families this Christmas.
The extent to which the Appeal surpassed my initial expectations is somewhat overwhelming and has instilled an enormous sense of pride in what we, as a community, have achieved, donating 550 kilos on one afternoon.
People from every section of the club have come together to show their support; from the Minis right through to the Executive Committee. Representatives from all age groups got involved in the launch video, all training sessions acted as drop-off points, the Club Bar held a fundraising raffle and the girls from Ballymoney Hockey Club were extremely generous with their donations too. We even had an appearance from Ulster Rugby star, Stewart Moore.
We were able to use £284 in monetary donations to purchase items from Tesco, Ballymoney, who contacted the Foodbank and put together trolley-loads of the items most needed.
Thank you to everyone who has supported or contributed in any way, including W.S.Mercer, Electrical Wholesales, Ballymena for the use of their van and for your patience and eagerness to help.”
