On Saturday Ballymoney 3XV were on the road to face Limavady 2XV. In previous meetings these matches were often characterised by close scorelines as was also the case in this fixture.

Limavady drew first blood with an early score on the wing. Ballymoney fought back into the game and after some sustained pressure Marc Tweed crossed the line to level the scores 7-7.

The toon men were finding success with their driving Mauls and after a lengthy period in the Limavady 22 Neil Campbell showed great footwork to cross the line to put Ballymoney ahead. Limavady responded with a try of their own before half time to level the scores 14-14.

Ballymoney started off the second half poorly with Limavady scoring and later adding a penalty for infringements at the ruck. The toon men soon found themselves 22-14 down.

Ballymoney regrouped and battled their way up the pitch, responding with two tries of their own. Danny Platt crossed the line from close range and Jonny Hanna linked up with Neil Campbell to put the Toon 24-22 ahead. In the closing minutes of the game Limavady scored and converted to leave the final score 29-24.
